Run for the Firies was formed in 2009 after Black Saturday when the Kangaroo Ground CFA and Research CFA Brigades worked together, both during the fires and afterwards, to help those impacted by the fires. A friendship was forged. This was and continues to be an event to bring everyone together and create local and wider community awareness of volunteering with CFA, fire safety and prevention as well as fundraise for the Brigades.

The Research and Kangaroo Ground fire brigades are run entirely by volunteers who are on call 24/7 to attend any emergency when needed such as car accidents, fires, floods and a variety of other scenarios. The Country Fire Authority (CFA) provide us with trucks, a station and basic fire fighting equipment to protect us while attending incidents and to enable us to protect not only our local communities, but also communities right across the state.

Fundraising is required for the Brigades to fully purchase or support the purchase of any further items. These may include vehicles such as Field Command Vehicles and Ultra-Light Tankers, specialised tools and equipment such as lighting, quick fill pumps and chainsaws.

Our major fundraiser each year is a fun run called Run for the Firies. In order to maximise the financial return for the two brigades, we are seeking your help.

This could take the form of donated goods/services and/or a financial sponsorship.
There are a variety of opportunities available:
Naming Rights to an event e.g. 10.6 km Run
Or
Donation or sponsorship to the event.
